Similar to the “Where” application - this application helps you recognize businesses, cafes, restaurants, and stores by your location on your Palm Pre. Since it’s source is the Citysearch database you will find most businesses listed on this application. Owner descriptions and user reviews are available within the application as are their corresponding addresses, phone numbers, and hours of operation.

The user interface seems to be a little better than the “Where” application but where has a little more categories as you’ll notice. When it comes to food this application doesn’t rank with the Goodfood application which I highly rate. You can search from within all screens and also there are user reviews available within this application. Overall this is a great Palm Pre application and I’m sure we’ll see some more of it’s type in the next coming months.

Where Application

Looking for businesses within the vicinity? The Where application uses your GPS to help you with that. Quite a popular application on most smartphones Where is integrated with Yelp! So not only do you get one of the best places directories but you also get user reviews along with it. When you open up the Palm Pre Application you’ll notice a set of categories and then it’s all you from there.

I love how within the application there is so much detail. Let’s say you wanted to see more on movies - the where application will show you everything you need to to know from closest theatres to trailers - without leaving the application. I highly recommend getting this application for your Palm Pre

Accuweather Application for Palm Pre

The best Palm Pre Weather application is definitely Accuweather. Satellite and radar imagery are some of the advanced tools but I think I’ll stick to the basic weather forecast. Similar to other weather applications the default screen is the 5 day weather forcast which shows all the technicalities like dew point, and humidity, wind, sunrise/set. One tap on the bottom menu bar will reveal your hourly forecast.

This is one of my favorite things about Accuweather. It understands that we’re human so it has this setting called “RealFeel” which takes account the technicalities mentioned above and will show you the temperature of how it really feels outside. This application is great if you travel a lot and to be honest, I have yet to see a weather application as sophisticated as this one.

Palm Pre Navigation

Just like most other smart phones the Pre comes to you with a GPS Navigation app. But it’s not just any GPS Navigation app this one is fully functional with Sprint Navigation so you can her the turn by turn navigation with text to speech functionality. Also has tons of maps on them and no matter where you are the GPS navigation application seems to have your location down pat.

Just like most GPS you can enter addresses and set favorites. It works great and even includes points of interest. It’s a great application and definitely up there with the best of navigation systems on cell phones. Go Palm Pre - less than 24 hours left people!

Google Maps App

Everyday I wake up in the morning and I thank God and then I thank Google. Google Maps works great on the Palm Pre. The integrated GPS on the Palm Pre will show you location automatically and the application itself works absolutely seamlessly. You can choose between all three map views with satellite and regular map views by default. To enable traffic info just shimmy down to the bottom right and select the menu button.

Pretty much if you’ve used Google Maps before you’ll know how to use this application. It’s a great application for the Palm Pre and it’s pretty much standard now on any smart phone that wants to compete.
