Looking to sync your Mac with your palm pre? Missing Sync will help you with that. Looking to sync your Windows pc with your Palm Pre? PocketMirror is the application for you. Both apps do virtually the exact same thing - enable you to sync your contacts and calender easily between your Computer and your Palm Pre.

Don’t worry about wires as everything will sync over Wifi. Missing Sync has this cool feature that syncs by proximity - so if your close to your pc your Pre will automatically Sync. PocketMirror is a bit basic since it only syncs with outlook. Although you don’t need an Exchange server - you will need MS Outlook on your pc. Missing Sync on th eother hand allows you to your video, music files, bookmarks, and more and even formats the files for you. They’re both free for now but don’t expect that to last for long!

Evernote Application

If you are like me, you’re always doing so many things it’s hard to keep up with everything. Applications like Evernote are a Godsend because they just make everything work. You can capture your inspirations in life in the Evernote Palm Pre Application through the camera lens, bookmarking webpages, and leaving notes and reminders for yourself. Similar to MobileMe - you can sync Evernote online, on your desktop, and on your Palm Pre.

This is where things get ridiculous. The Evernote application recognizes text in images. For example, an associate gives you a business card - by taking a picture of it - Evernote automatically recognizes the text and adds the appropriate information into your Contacts. Maybe you take a picture of some notes you wrote? It can convert your handwritten text so you can search through it later. This is definitely one of the coolest applications available for the Palm Pre.

Shortcover - EBook Reader

As Apple releases the ability to buy within the application - the Pre comes with it. With applications like Shortcovers - an ebook market and reader built in 1 - you can choose from literally thousands of books, magazines, excerpts, and articles. the best part is you never have to leave the application to actually buy them. I love the chapter option since you can actually just buy a chapter from a book - how often do you get to do that? It’s comparable to other readers but of course not on the same level as Amazons Kindle.

Searching this application is simple. You can search for the title of the book or author names - or even by price and popularity. Probably one of the better applications out for the Palm Pre right now. You can find it in the App Catalog so if you like reading on the go - go get it.

Document Viewer Application

Included with you Palm Pre at purchase is a built in Documents View and PDF Viewer which are great but can sometimes be a hassle when opening huge documents. It’s pretty much like a Microsoft Office built into the Pre since you can view PDFs, Powerpoints, Excel spreadsheets, rtf, plaint text files, and word documents. Of course the application will resize the documents accordingly - and you can zoom in and zoom out with ease. You can also search for specific text within the documents application.

You may find some problems with this application if youre running other programs on your pre at the same time. When opening files around 7MB you may see it start to lock up. Of course this will be patched up in the future hopefully. Once developers have gotten their hands on it we’re sure this application will also somehow serve as an Ebook reader…So you can have like an Amazon Kindle but on your Palm Pre

Memos Application

Now this is cool. If you’re kind of like me and somehow manage to find yourself doing a million things at once and meeting a million different people in a day then it’s for you. The Memo application shows you a cool bulletin style board and you can set little sticky notes and reminders on them. You can also color code them to your liking whether it be because you like rainbows or green and red look good together.

Click the proper icon to start up a new memo. You also are given the option of C & P’ing any of the items from one memo to another. It’s definitely useful and what I like about it most is it’s a great piece of eye candy. A very attractive application for sure.

Tasks Application

Tasks - we all have them, some of us do them, some of us don’t. The Palm Pre comes with an integrated tasks application/manager so we can see our tasks and work out way through them. It allows you to have one grand task and several mini tasks within.. It’s a great to do list since it allows you to check off everything as youre done (just like any other). It’s quite simple, but yet another beautiful app for the Palm Pre.

If your task are alike it’s not a problem because of the Palm Pres copy and paste function. Like most task managers you can apply a due date and delete tasks with ease. Great app if you’re one who likes to organize their days.

Calender App for Palm Pre

For some reason the Pre and Facebook are very friendly. It makes me want to say, “WHAT ABOUT MYSPACE?” But on a serious note the Palm Pre’s integrated calender allows you to sync you Google, Facebook, and Outlook calendars straight into your phone. There are multiple views so that you can see your day in one simple view unifying all of your events and appointments from all of your calendars and bringing them together for you. Isn’t it lovely?

If you’re like me and like to be organized within organization this Palm Pre Application allows you to color code your calendars - maybe one for your business life and one for the wife, kids, and mistress?
