Launcher aka Universal Search

One reason I’m falling in love more than ever with the Palm Pre is the easy usability of the phone. Built into the Palm Pre is a launcher or universal search application. Pretty much, just start typing form your homes screen and just like a Google Search results of applications or functions within your phone begin to pop-up right before your eyes.

The beauty of the Palm Pre Launcher application is the ease it searches through your entire phone. It goes through the setting, contacts, applications, and through every nook and cranny of your Pre. If for some reason you do not actually find what you’re looking for the Pre will prompt you on whether or not you would like to search using Wikipedia, Google, or even Googles popular map application. Pretty much with the way things are with this phone, 2 steps and your there. Only a few more days till I have a Palm Pre in my own hands.

Web Browser App

The Web Browser Application on the Palm Pre might just blow the iPhones Safari browser out of the water. Of course while your busy with other apps you can keep multiple websites open and if you don’t know already the Palm Pre supports multitouch technology so you can double tap, finger pinch, and finger spread on specific areas similar to the iPhone. Web application that tend to be iffy to use on other phones are a cinch and bookmarking well…it’s bookmarking how hard can it get?

If you frequent a certain web page you can make that an addition to your launcher so it shows up similar to an application. Within the preferences menu you’ll see controls for cookies, popup windows, history, javascript and more. You can also look through your history and bookmarks quite easily. To say the least, the Web Browser App on the Palm Pre is badass.

Email Application

By now we all know that it’s essential to email integrated with your cell phone. The Palm Pre’s email application is very sophisticated as it can be synced with Yahoo Mail, Gmail, Outlook and many other email accounts. Setting it up is quite simple all you have to do is enter your login details. The configuration of Outlook on the Palm Pre is a little more advanced as it enables you to view multiple email inboxes from one screen. Navigation is actually quite simple - the Palm Pre seems to make everything quite easy.

Moving between your personal life and your business agendas is made quite simple with the Palm Pre as it integrated your email and your calendar. If you’ve set up your contact information the email app will take the picture from the said contact and associate the photo with their email address. For quicker navigation there is also a nav bar towards the bottom of this Palm Pre Application.
